Puscifer, the innovative musical project fronted by Maynard James Keenan, is set to offer a select group of fans an early listening experience of their highly anticipated new studio album. The band has announced two exclusive, intimate performances at Exchange L.A. in Los Angeles on August 11, 2025.
These unique back-to-back sets, scheduled for 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., are touted as Puscifer‘s most intimate live shows to date. The special engagements will not only provide a sneak peek at the new material but will also be filmed for a future release, ensuring that this unique event is preserved beyond the live attendees. Tickets for these shows are currently on sale.
Beyond his roles as frontman for Tool and A Perfect Circle, Maynard James Keenan utilizes Puscifer as an outlet for darker and more personal artistic expressions that might not fit the established molds of his other bands. Puscifer‘s distinct sound blends introspective reflection with a characteristic sophomoric humor, evident in past album titles such as the 2007 debut V Is For V**ina, 2013’s Donkey Punch The Night, and 2015’s Money $hot. However, with their 2020 release, Existential Reckoning, the band adopted a more serious tone, reflecting global events.
The upcoming album has been a subject of recent discussion from Keenan. Earlier this year, he provided insight into the band’s creative process to the Cleveland Scene. “Puscifer has evolutionary potential,” Keenan noted. “Just the way we approach everything is very focused play, for lack of a better explanation. The way Mat [Mitchell] works and I work and [singer] Carina [Round] works dovetails. We’re currently working on a new album. Watching it come together is really inspirational as I can see each piece as it’s been added or subtracted. We’re not sitting in a studio together, so it’s fun to get an update and hear what someone has done, and you can react.”
In January, Keenan further confirmed the existence of new Puscifer music during an interview with YouTuber Rick Beato. At that time, he stated: “We don’t really like to talk about anything until we feel like we’re 90% there, so I can now say out loud there’s a Puscifer record coming in 2025.” He added that the album was “90% written” and the band was preparing to “go back and start tracking stuff.”
Puscifer is an American rock band often described as Keenan‘s “creative subconscious”. Puscifer is known for its eclectic and experimental sound, blending industrial, electronic, and alternative rock elements with humor and theatricality.
Unlike his other projects, Puscifer offers Keenan a more fluid and collaborative outlet, allowing him to explore diverse musical styles and themes. The band frequently incorporates multimedia, elaborate costumes, and absurdist narratives into its live performances, creating a unique and immersive experience that extends beyond just the music.
