Austin police are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an indecent exposure incident that occurred at a clothing store in East Austin earlier this year.
The Austin Police Department (APD) Sex Crimes Unit says the incident took place on Monday, March 30, 2026, at approximately 3:06 p.m. at a retail location on 2505 East 6th Street.
According to investigators, the suspect entered the store, selected several clothing items, and then went into a dressing room. Authorities allege that while inside, he left the fitting room curtain open and engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct while being exposed.
Police describe the individual as a white male, approximately 30 years old, with a large build, reddish beard, and mustache.
One detail that has drawn attention in the metal community is that the suspect was wearing a shirt featuring Norwegian black metal legends Darkthrone at the time of the incident.
APD has not released the suspect’s identity and says the investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to review evidence and tips from the public.
Anyone who recognizes the individual or has information related to the case is urged to contact the APD Sex Crimes Unit at 512-974-5095. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program at austincrimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477.
In separate music news, Darkthrone are preparing for the release of their upcoming album Pre-Historic Metal, due out on May 8 via Peaceville. The band describes the title as a reflection of their creative philosophy, with Fenriz explaining: “Prehistoric is a loose term. I just figure it’s our VIBE, our take on things and it’s more a statement that we use old style to create something new.”
