Machine Head Unleashes New Single “BØNESCRAPER”

Machine Head’s new single, “BØNESCRAPER“, which was first made available to SiriusXM listeners this week, is now live on digital streaming platforms. The Bay Area thrash and groove metal band will release their eleventh studio album, UNATØNED, on April 25th.

Robb Flynn previously said in an interview with The Garza Podcast that the album consists of 10 songs plus two instrumentals, running 41 minutes, making it the shortest Machine Head album to date. “I’m really proud of this thing. I really feel like we’ve got a f***ing monster on our hands. It’s just really unique”, Flynn added.

Discussing the album’s overall sound, Flynn said: “It’s not our heaviest record; I would never say that it’s our heaviest record. It’s got a lot of melody. The last song on the record is a… I’m a total sucker for the Elton John piano ballad. I love Chris Stapleton… And that last song ‘Scorn‘ is… It’s, like, I’ve been trying to write a piano ballad for four albums in a row now, and I failed four albums in a row. And I finally nailed it with this album.” The band’s latest release, with its shorter runtime, presents a new sonic direction. Flynn’s personal investment in achieving the perfect piano ballad is evident in the final track, “Scorn“, marking a significant achievement for him in the band’s musical evolution.

Flynn worked with several collaborators, including Jordan Fish (formerly of Bring Me the Horizon) and producer Joel Wanasek: “I’ve got a few collaborators, like four guys that I work with, but me and this guy, Joel Wanasek, finally nailed down this piano thing… It was the last song I wrote on the record.”

To celebrate, they’re gearing up for a spring headlining tour with In Flames, Lacuna Coil, and Unearth.
