Hard rock icon Lita Ford has offered a highly anticipated update regarding her first full-length studio release in over a decade. During an April 14 appearance on SiriusXM‘s “Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk,” the legendary guitarist confirmed that the long-in-the-works follow-up to 2012’s Living Like A Runaway is officially finished and being prepped for an autumn launch.

The upcoming record was once again helmed by producer and guitarist Gary Hoey, who also contributed fretwork to the new material. Discussing the project’s current status and guest appearances, Lita Ford revealed that the album features a heavy-hitting duet alongside German metal queen Doro Pesch, as well as a collaboration with acclaimed singer-songwriter and former Crown Of Thorns and Plasmatics frontman Jean Beauvoir. To polish the final product, the band enlisted veteran 1980s producer Max Norman for mixing duties.

“It’s coming. It’s coming soon. I’m hoping the fall. It’s done. I did a really killer duet with [German metal singer] Doro Pesch. It’s great. She nailed it, and the song is fantastic. So I’m excited for everybody to hear that. And then I did another track with [singer/songwriter/producer] Jean Beauvoir [Crown Of ThornsPlasmatics]. We wrote a great song together. [He’s] super talented, and the song is magic. And, of course, Gary Hoey produced it, and there’s lots of guitar playing on it and stuff. [Legendary 1980s producer] Max Norman mixed it. So, it’s bada**,” she said (as transcribed by Blabbermouth).

When host Eddie Trunk pointed out the significant gap between album cycles, the musician acknowledged the long wait. She explained that a major factor in the delay was navigating the modern business landscape and ensuring the right infrastructure was built to support the release.

“It’s been a while, but the music industry has changed so much, and I just wanted to put together a great team of people to promote this record,” Lita explained. “I didn’t wanna just give it to somebody and hope for the best. I wanted it to be a great team that’s gonna support this record. And we got a great team now.”

Reflecting on her enduring legacy and the drastic shifts in the entertainment business over the last forty years, the rocker expressed deep appreciation for her loyal audience.

“It’s just different in this day and age. Everything is different. But I’m just grateful that we’re still here, we’re still rocking, we still have our great fans. And they’re ready for some new rock and roll. So we’re gonna give it to ’em.”
