In a triumphant victory lap for their massively successful new era, the reconfigured Linkin Park have released a powerful live video for their comeback single, “The Emptiness Machine.” Filmed during their sold-out concert at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium on June 28, the video captures the immense energy of their global tour and serves as a definitive statement of success after the band initially weathered a storm of fan backlash against new vocalist Emily Armstrong. The new video showcases the band performing the hit single that introduced the world to their new lineup, which features Armstrong and new drummer Colin Brittain. The sprawling, sold-out Wembley crowd is a testament to the incredible reception the band has received since returning with their new album, From Zero.
Released in November 2024, From Zero was the band’s first new record since the tragic death of frontman Chester Bennington in 2017. The album was a global smash, debuting at number one on the UK album chart and topping the charts in 12 other countries, proving the band’s enduring connection with its fanbase.
However, the launch of this new chapter was not without its challenges. New vocalist Emily Armstrong faced intense online scrutiny and criticism from a segment of the fanbase. In a past interview, co-vocalist Mike Shinoda addressed the backlash, stating his belief that much of it was rooted in sexism.
“There were people who lashed out at Emily and it was really because she wasn’t a guy,” Shinoda said. He explained that fans were “used to Linkin Park being six guys and the voice of a guy leading this song,” and were “just so uncomfortable with what it was that they chose a ton of things to complain about.”
Now, with a chart-topping album and a massively successful world tour underway, the new live video from a packed Wembley Stadium stands as a powerful answer to any early doubts. The band is currently in the middle of their North American arena tour before heading to South America in the fall and returning to Europe in 2026.
