Linkin Park are already writing music for the follow-up to their 2024 comeback album From Zero, according to the band’s DJ and turntablist Joe Hahn.
Speaking to NME, Hahn explained that the band returned to the studio shortly after finishing the touring cycle for From Zero. According to Billboard, that tour was the most successful in the band’s history, grossing $251 million and selling around 2.2 million tickets.
Asked whether the band had been working on new material, Hahn said: “Yeah, because we really enjoy being around each other, and we especially love the creation side of things and making music. When we were touring in different cities, if there was a day off, we would go into studios just to tinker around with stuff. And when we finished touring, we decided to take a month off because we needed a break, but then we jumped right back into the studio.”
When asked if another album is planned, he joked: “Oh, yeah… and it’s going to be really slow and boring, and very polarising to everyone.”
In recent weeks, the band have been promoting “Unshatter“, the new concert film and documentary directed by Hahn, which opens in cinemas worldwide on Wednesday, September 30.
The film tells the story of Linkin Park‘s return following the death of singer Chester Bennington in 2017. It mixes behind-the-scenes footage from the band’s studio sessions with their November 15, 2024, stadium concert at Allianz Parque in São Paulo, Brazil, held on the same day From Zero was released.
The 20-track soundtrack, Unshatter Film Soundtrack (Live In São Paulo), came out last week through Warner Records, along with a live video for “Waiting For The End“.
From Zero was Linkin Park‘s first album since 2017’s One More Light and their first with singer Emily Armstrong and drummer Colin Brittain. It includes the singles “The Emptiness Machine“, “Heavy Is The Crown” and “Over Each Other“.
