LAPD: Weezer Bassist’s Wife Opened Fire; Coachella Gig Still On

Things got intense in Los Angeles when Jillian Lauren-Shriner, the wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, was shot by LAPD officers. This all unfolded while police were chasing someone related to a hit-and-run that happened the day before.

Here’s the lowdown: Cops were looking for a suspect who ran into a neighborhood after a hit-and-run. This led them to the yard next door to Jillian and Scott Shriner‘s place. That’s when Jillian came out of her house holding a gun.

According to Jennifer Forkish, the LAPD Director of Communications, things escalated quickly. She told NBC News: “Our investigation revealed evidence such as a shell casing and video footage showing she repeatedly ignored police commands to disarm and that she fired her weapon at LAPD officers.”

Police reports say officers told Jillian multiple times to drop the gun, but she didn’t. Eventually, she allegedly pointed the gun at them, and that’s when police shot her in the shoulder. After about 30 minutes, she surrendered.

Jillian was arrested for attempted murder and later released on a $1 million bail. Her court date is set for April 30th. A 9-millimeter handgun was reportedly found at the home.

Meanwhile, the person who initially ran into the neighborhood, which brought police to the area, has been caught. However, the other two suspects from the original hit-and-run are still out there.

TMZ caught up with Scott Shriner, who said Jillian is “doing alright.” When asked about the situation, he added, “I can’t comment on [the situation] right now… I can’t talk to you yet. See you at Coachella!” It looks like Weezer is still planning to play at the festival.

This bizarre incident has definitely grabbed attention, given Jillian‘s connection to the famous band. The LAPD is still digging into what happened and why. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
