Virginia heavy metal institution Lamb of God has officially released their highly anticipated tenth studio album, Into Oblivion, out today, March 13. Arriving four years after their 2022 effort, Omens, the new 10-track record firmly cements the group’s status as modern metal mainstays, delivering their signature punishing grooves while pushing their creative boundaries forward.
Produced and mixed by longtime studio collaborator Josh Wilbur, the recording process for Into Oblivion was uniquely spread across several locations tied to the band’s identity. The drum tracks were captured in their hometown of Richmond, Virginia, while guitars and bass were recorded at guitarist Mark Morton‘s personal home studio. Frontman Randy Blythe tracked his blistering vocals at the iconic Total Access studio in Redondo Beach, California—the birthplace of legendary punk records by Black Flag, Hüsker Dü, and Descendents.
Speaking on the creative liberation surrounding the new album, Morton shared:
“For me, the album is about having the space to breathe creatively and not feeling like we have to keep up with any trend or expectation. It feels nice to be untethered from any agenda beyond rallying around the notion of, ‘Let’s just make music that we think is cool,’ which is really where it all started.”
Addressing the heavy thematic elements and the stark title of the record, Randy added:
“Because that’s where we’re heading. In general, the album is about the ongoing and rapid breakdown of the social contract, particularly here in America. Things are acceptable now that would’ve horrified people just 20 years ago.”
To celebrate today’s massive release, more than 140 independent record stores across the United States are hosting official Into Oblivion listening parties throughout the weekend. Fans attending these local events have the opportunity to pick up an indie-exclusive “Poltergeist” vinyl variant, alongside free promotional swag and contest prizes.
Furthermore, Lamb of God will play an intimate, one-off pop-up show this Sunday, March 15, at the Theatre of Living Arts (TLA) in Philadelphia, featuring support from Fit For An Autopsy. The city holds deep historical significance for the band, having served as the backdrop for their Platinum-selling 2005 live album and DVD, Killadelphia.
Following the release weekend festivities, the band will embark on a sprawling North American headline tour starting March 17. Featuring a crushing support package comprised of Kublai Khan TX, Fit For An Autopsy, and Sanguisugabogg, Mark Morton has boldly hyped the run, stating:
“We are beyond thrilled to announce the loudest, proudest, floor shakin’-est, earth quakin’-est, ear-splittin’-est, mosh pittin’-est, undiluted, undisputed HEAVIEST tour of the whole damn year. Is this the largest collection of RIFFS ever assembled under one roof? It would seem so. Lamb of God, Kublai Khan TX, Fit For An Autopsy, and Sanguisugabogg. Do not miss this s**t.”
Following the North American trek, the metal titans will cross the Atlantic for a jam-packed Summer 2026 European tour, featuring major festival appearances at Wacken Open Air and Bloodstock, as well as select headlining dates featuring Thy Art Is Murder, Bleed From Within, and Vended.
