Lamb Of God delivered a thunderous performance during Black Sabbath’s historic “Back To The Beginning” farewell concert, held on July 5 at Villa Park in Birmingham, UK. As part of an all-star lineup honoring the legendary pioneers of heavy metal in their hometown, the Virginia-based groove metal titans paid tribute in their own explosive style by performing a brutal rendition of the 1971 Sabbath classic “Children Of The Grave.”
Hitting the stage promptly at 3:00 p.m., Lamb Of God wasted no time setting the tone for the day. Their cover stayed faithful to the spirit and doom-laden drive of the original track while injecting it with their signature intensity, relentless precision, and vocalist Randy Blythe’s feral growls. The crowd, already buzzing with anticipation, erupted as the band tore through the track, making it one of the standout moments of the afternoon.
The monumental event was curated by Tom Morello and hosted by actor and metalhead Jason Momoa, featuring an unmatched lineup that included Slayer, Metallica, Tool, Pantera, Gojira, Guns N’ Roses, and more. Adding to the spectacle were special appearances and supergroup performances from icons such as Billy Corgan (The Smashing Pumpkins), David Draiman (Disturbed), Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit), and Sammy Hagar (Van Halen, Chickenfoot).
Although originally billed as a livestream, the event aired with a two-hour delay. U.S. fans were able to catch Lamb Of God’s powerful performance beginning at 10 a.m. ET / 7 a.m. PT.
