Virginia heavy metal institution Lamb of God officially ushered in the release of their highly anticipated tenth studio album, Into Oblivion, with a special hometown signing session. On Friday evening, March 13, all five members of the band gathered at Plan 9 Records in Richmond, Virginia, to celebrate the arrival of their first full-length record since 2022.
Footage of the in-store event, which was uploaded to YouTube by the Dennis Justus channel, captures the band interacting with their dedicated local fanbase.
The hometown signing is just one piece of a massive weekend celebration for the band. To commemorate the launch of Into Oblivion, Lamb of God is hosting nationwide listening parties from March 13 through March 15 at more than 140 independent record stores. Participating locations include iconic shops such as Amoeba Music in Los Angeles, Waterloo Records in Austin, Generation Records in New York, Repo Records in Philadelphia, and Richmond’s own Plan 9.
Attendees at these local events have access to exclusive Into Oblivion merchandise, free Lamb of God promotional swag (while supplies last), contest prizes, and an indie-exclusive, limited-edition “Poltergeist” vinyl variant of the new album.
The arrival of the new record was recently highlighted by the debut of its pummeling title track, “Into Oblivion“, which was accompanied by a cinematic music video directed by Tom Flynn and Mike Watts.
Produced and mixed by the band’s longtime studio collaborator Josh Wilbur, Into Oblivion was tracked across multiple locations deeply tied to the band’s history and influences. The drum parts were recorded in Richmond, Virginia, while guitars and bass were laid down at guitarist Mark Morton‘s personal home studio. Frontman Randy Blythe tracked his searing vocals at the legendary Total Access studio in Redondo Beach, California—a historic room known as the birthplace of seminal punk records by Black Flag, Hüsker Dü, and Descendents.
Continuing the release weekend festivities, Lamb of God will perform a rare, intimate pop-up show this Sunday, March 15, at the Theatre of Living Arts (TLA) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, featuring opening support from Fit For An Autopsy. The location holds immense historical significance for the group, as Philadelphia helped catapult them to international fame and served as the setting for their Platinum-certified 2005 live album and DVD, Killadelphia.
Following the special club show, the metal titans will officially launch their spring North American tour on March 17. Promising to be the heaviest trek of 2026, the massive run features a punishing support package consisting of Kublai Khan TX, Fit For An Autopsy, and Sanguisugabogg.
