Korn‘s Life Is Peachy returns on 16 October as a 2,500-copy coloured vinyl pressing with an acapella “Twist“.
Korn‘s second album turns 30 this October, and Legacy Recordings are marking it with a limited pressing. Life Is Peachy returns on 16 October on coke bottle smoke vinyl, capped at 2,500 copies and currently taking orders through Revolver‘s shop.
The date falls a day after the album’s actual anniversary. It came out on 15 October 1996.
The one addition is an acapella version of “Twist“, the 47-second opener on which Jonathan Davis scats over almost nothing before the record proper begins. Stripping the backing away leaves the vocal on its own — which, on that particular track, is close to the whole point of it.
Life Is Peachy was recorded between April and July 1996 at Indigo Ranch Studios in Malibu with Ross Robinson, the same producer and the same room the band had used for their 1994 debut. It runs to 48 minutes across fourteen tracks, with a hidden piece after “Kill You“.
It reached number three on the Billboard 200, went on to double platinum certification, and produced three singles — “No Place To Hide” in September 1996, “A.D.I.D.A.S.” the following March and “Good God” that November. The sleeve was photographed by Martin Riedl, and the title came from bassist Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu.
The band at that point were Davis, guitarists James “Munky” Shaffer and Brian “Head” Welch, Arvizu and drummer David Silveria.
