Hardcore heavyweights Knocked Loose have returned with their first new music since their breakout 2024 campaign, and they’ve brought a heavy hitter from the hip-hop world along for the ride. The Kentucky band has officially released “Hive Mind“, a blistering collaborative track featuring rapper Denzel Curry.
The release is accompanied by a gritty new music video directed by Eric Richter alongside Knocked Loose vocalist Bryan Garris. Staying true to their roots, the clip was filmed in the band’s hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, specifically at the David Armstrong Extreme Park—a legendary local skate spot.
The collaboration bridges the gap between modern hardcore and aggressive rap, a crossover that Knocked Loose has been eager to explore. According to Garris, Curry—who famously covered Rage Against The Machine‘s “Bulls On Parade” in 2019—was the only artist they considered for the job.
“This is something we’ve talked about doing for a long time,” Garris shared. “We wondered if we could pull it off and who would be down. In the very beginning, we said for it to work, it would have to be Denzel Curry. Because he gets it.”
“Hive Mind” marks the first fresh material from the band since their critically acclaimed 2024 album, You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To. That record catapulted the group to new heights, featuring the Grammy-nominated hit “Suffocate” with pop-metal artist Poppy and earning rave reviews from outlets like Pitchfork and The Guardian. The album was produced by Drew Fulk.
The release comes just ahead of a massive touring year for the band. Knocked Loose is set to appear at the Sick New World festival in Las Vegas on April 25 and in Dallas on October 24. Between those festival dates, they will be taking on one of the biggest gigs in rock music: supporting Metallica on select dates of their summer tour.
