KK’s Priest And Judas Priest Played Six Of The Same Songs On The Same Night

KK’s Priest and Judas Priest played six of the same songs on the same night, in Los Angeles and Bern, both opening identically.

On Friday evening, KK’s Priest opened their set at The Wiltern in Los Angeles with “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’“. Eight time zones away, at the Festhalle in Bern, Judas Priest had opened with the same song.

The two bands played on the same date, September 11, and their setlists shared six songs.

The second date of the North American run with W.A.S.P., via Setlist.fm:

  • “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin'” (Judas Priest)
  • “Breaking The Law” (Judas Priest)
  • “Living After Midnight” (Judas Priest)
  • “Strike Of The Viper”
  • “One More Shot At Glory”
  • “Hellfire Thunderbolt”
  • “Heading Out To The Highway” (Judas Priest)
  • “Beyond The Realms Of Death” (Judas Priest)
  • “The Sentinel” (Judas Priest)
  • “Victim Of Changes” (Judas Priest)
  • “Turbo Lover” (Judas Priest)
  • “Raise Your Fists”

Six songs appeared in both sets that night: “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’“, “Breaking The Law“, “Living After Midnight“, “The Sentinel“, “Turbo Lover” and “Victim Of Changes“.

Judas Priest‘s Bern set ran to 17 songs and drew heavily on British Steel, with one song from Invincible Shield, the album they are ostensibly touring. KK’s Priest‘s ran to 12, of which eight were Judas Priest songs and four came from their own two albums.

K.K. Downing co-wrote most of the Priest material in his set. The eight songs span 1976 to 1986, from Sad Wings Of Destiny through Turbo, the decade in which he and Glenn Tipton wrote the bulk of the band’s catalogue.

The Wiltern running order was identical to the tour opener in El Cajon the night before, including the two songs KK’s Priest had never played live until that first show.

“Heading Out To The Highway” and “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’” were both added for this run, trailed in June when the band posted a clip of Downing and A.J. Mills working through the riffs. Two nights in, both have held their places, and the second has taken the opening slot.

KK’s Priest is Downing on guitar and Tim “Ripper” Owens on vocals, both formerly of Judas Priest, with Mills of Hostile on guitar, Tony Newton of Voodoo Six on bass and Sean Elg of Deathriders and Cage on drums. Their albums are Sermons Of The Sinner, released in October 2021, and The Sinner Rides Again, from September 2023.

They are billed as very special guest on W.A.S.P.‘s “1984 To Headless” tour, which takes its name from the span between the headliners’ 1984 debut and 1989’s The Headless Children. The North American leg runs to October 31 in Anaheim, followed by South American headline dates in spring 2027.

Judas Priest, meanwhile, are finishing the European leg of their “Faithkeepers” tour this month with Nevermore supporting, and are due in London on September 21.
