Kiss Kennedy Honors Recap 2025

Pop-culture publisher Insight Editions has officially set an October 27 release date for a massive new retrospective book titled “Kiss Destroyer: The Definitive Visual History: Making And Touring The Legendary Album, Official And Authorized“. The comprehensive deep dive into the band’s landmark record was co-authored by Ken Sharp alongside Kiss founding members Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons.

In 1976, Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss firmly stomped their platform heels into the mainstream consciousness with Destroyer. The monumental record catapulted the group to global superstardom. Now, this official, authorized retrospective invites fans behind the scenes of the historic recording sessions and backstage during the mind-blowing tour that followed.

The 272-page book promises to deliver eye-opening insights into several legendary moments in Kiss history, including:

  • Marlon Brando‘s unexpected significance on the creative direction of the album
  • The escalating tensions inside the sound studio
  • The literal destruction of Paul Stanley‘s favorite guitar
  • The intricate process of creating the era’s iconic costumes and cover artwork
  • The memorable photo shoots used to promote the record
  • A specific dare that led to the official birth of the Kiss Army
  • David Bowie‘s direct influence on the band’s elaborate stage design
  • Behind-the-scenes hijinks from the tour
  • Fascinating encounters with Karen Carpenter, Margaret Hamilton, Paul Lynde, and other major stars of the era

The retrospective features conversations with over 50 individuals, boasting exclusive new interviews with Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, and legendary producer Bob Ezrin, who collectively reveal all the sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll that fueled the making of the album. The pages are jam-packed with deep dives into the creation of every track, including unreleased demos that didn’t make the final cut and the story behind who originally titled the smash hit “Beth“.

Visually, the release contains hundreds of photographs, many of which have never been previously published. It also serves as a historical document, offering comprehensive tour information that covers specific dates, venues, and key performances. A complete timeline of recording and promoting the seminal album is juxtaposed with world affairs and other cultural events, putting the band’s massive milestones into a meaningful historical context.

Pre-orders for the release are currently available.
