Kelly Osbourne: ‘We’re Closer Now Than We Ever Have Been’ Following Ozzy’s Death

The Osbourne family has rallied together, finding strength in their shared grief.

In the wake of Ozzy Osbourne‘s death last July, the Osbourne family has rallied together, finding strength in their shared grief. Speaking on the red carpet at the Grammy Awards on Sunday (February 1), Kelly Osbourne opened up to Entertainment Tonight about the family’s current dynamic and the emotional weight of the evening’s scheduled tribute to her father.

While the music world prepared to honor the metal icon, Kelly emphasized that the night was equally significant for her mother, Sharon Osbourne.

“It is so lovely that his peers in this community that he loved so much are going to be acknowledging his work tonight,” Kelly said. “It’s just as much about my mum as it is my dad and we’re here to support her through it.”

When asked if the loss of Ozzy had changed the relationship between the surviving members, Kelly confirmed that the tragedy has galvanized their bond.

She said: “We’re closer now than we ever have been. We’re all we have and we’ve experienced the biggest loss we will ever go through. And all we want to do is just live in his legacy.”

Inside the Crypto.com Arena, that legacy was celebrated with a high-profile performance during the ceremony’s “In Memoriam” segment. A supergroup featuring Post Malone, Slash, Duff McKagan, and Chad Smith performed a thunderous version of the Black Sabbath classic “War Pigs.” Cameras captured the Osbourne family in the audience, appearing visibly moved by the homage.

The influence of the “Prince of Darkness” was felt throughout the awards list as well. Yungblud secured the trophy for “Best Rock Performance” for his live cover of “Changes,” recorded at Osbourne‘s final concert event, “Back To The Beginning,” in Birmingham just weeks before he passed away at the age of 76.
