Kelly Osbourne Reveals She ‘Wasn’t Very Well’ At Grammys After Ozzy’s Death

Kelly Osbourne is making a three-part documentary on grief and mental health, and says she should not have attended the 2026 Grammys.

Kelly Osbourne is making a three-part documentary series about grief and mental health, and has spoken for the first time about the state she was in when she appeared at the Grammy Awards in February.

Talking to Daily Mail, Kelly said she had no sense of how much weight she had lost in the months after her father’s death until she saw a photograph taken at a dress fitting for the ceremony.

“I looked like the f**king Crypt Keeper,” she told the paper. “I said, ‘This is scary. I didn’t know I looked like this’. My spine – you could see every single bone.”

The people around her had noticed. Her styling team, she said, “knew I was going through something. So, we were trying to find clothes to not make me look skinnier.”

She made her own adjustments too: “I wore a wig to cover my face, so you couldn’t see how skinny my cheekbones really were.”

Looking back, she said she should not have been there at all.

“I was scared. I wanted to be there to support my mum and to pay tribute to my father’s legacy. But in all honesty, when I reflect on it, I don’t think I should have gone. I wasn’t very well.”

Kelly, 41, attended the 68th Grammy Awards at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 1 with her mother Sharon Osbourne and brother Jack Osbourne. The ceremony included a tribute to her father, performed by Post Malone with Slash, Chad Smith, Duff McKagan and Andrew Watt.

Kelly described losing her appetite entirely rather than choosing not to eat.

“You’re filled with so much pain that the feeling of hunger can’t even pop up,” she said.

She also spoke about the permanence of what has changed: “The person I was before my dad died is dead… That person doesn’t exist anymore.”

The series is intended to reach people going through the same thing.

“I’m going to do a three-part documentary series on grief and mental health and what I went through and tell my story because there’s a lot that people don’t know,” she said.

No broadcaster, production company or release window has been announced.

Ozzy Osbourne died on July 22, 2025 at 76, weeks after the Black Sabbath farewell concert at Villa Park in Birmingham. His death was attributed to a heart attack; he had lived with Parkinson’s disease.

The comments about her weight intensified after February 28, when she walked the red carpet at the BRIT Awards at Co-op Live in Manchester and joined her mother Sharon on stage to accept a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award for Ozzy. The ceremony was broadcast live on ITV, and the reaction online focused on her appearance.

She hit back at the time on her Instagram Stories:

“There is a special kind of cruelty in harming someone who is clearly going through something. kicking me while I’m down, doubting my pain, spreading my struggles as gossip, and turning your back when I need support and love most. None of it proves strength; it only reveals a profound absence of compassion and character. I’m currently going through the hardest time in my life. I should not even have to defend myself. But I won’t sit here and allow myself to be dehumanized in such a way!”

Kelly said her health is “not going to be fixed in a day” and that the mental side comes first.

“It’s one foot in front of the other,” she continued. “You’ve got to fix the head before you can fix the body. It’s a slow process. It’s going to take me a minute. I’m not going to be fixed in a day. I’m not going to be fixed on one therapy session. This is a lifetime of work I’ve got to do and continue to do for the rest of my life.”

Therapy, she said, has changed how she understands her own behaviour.

Kelly added: “It’s great discovering things about yourself [in therapy], and the reasons why I do certain things that stem from my childhood. You go all the way back and you’re like: ‘Oh my god, that’s why I do that. That’s crazy.’ I’m getting to know myself in a whole new way, but it’s a lot more healthy, I can tell you that.”

She has previously discussed using Ozempic, and underwent gastric sleeve surgery in 2018. She has also spoken openly about gaining weight after the birth of her son Sidney, whom she welcomed with Sid Wilson in 2022.

Kelly had already addressed comments about her appearance before the Grammys. In December, in a video shown during Sharon Osbourne‘s appearance on “Piers Morgan Uncensored“, she asked people posting remarks about her weight and her health to stop, and said her father had just died and that her family was what she had.

She has been the subject of public commentary about her body for most of her adult life, in both directions, going back to her time on “The Osbournes“.
