Kelly Osbourne Fires Back At ‘Cruel’ Body-Shamers After 2026 BRIT Awards Appearance

“There is a special kind of cruelty in harming someone who is clearly going through something.”

Kelly Osbourne 2025 Award

On Feb. 28, Sharon Osbourne and Kelly Osbourne stepped onto the stage at the 2026 BRIT Awards to accept Ozzy Osbourne’s posthumous Lifetime Achievement honor. What should have been a celebratory evening, however, was followed by a wave of harsh online remarks targeting Kelly’s appearance, leading her to call out the “cruelty” directed at her.

In the months since her father’s passing last July, Kelly has received an outpouring of love — but also pointed criticism focused on her weight and other elements of her looks. She has addressed the backlash multiple times, including just last week, yet the negative commentary has continued. Frustrated by the ongoing attacks, she returned to Instagram Stories once more to respond directly to those criticizing her.

Among the remarks circulating online was a tweet from one user that read:

“What’s up with how bad Kelly Osbourne looks, it’s really messed up!”

She posted the following:

“There is a special kind of cruelty in harming someone who is clearly going through something. kicking me while I’m down, doubting my pain, spreading my struggles as gossip, and turning your back when I need support and love most. None of it proves strength; it only reveals a profound absence of compassion and character. I’m currently going through the hardest time in my life. I should not even have to defend myself. But I won’t sit here and allow myself to be dehumanized in such a way!”

Whether the remarks stem from outright criticism or what some claim is genuine concern, Kelly Osbourne has made it clear that the commentary has affected her — and she appears prepared to continue addressing it if the attacks persist.

Despite the online backlash, the BRIT Awards ceremony itself was an emotional and uplifting moment for both Kelly and Sharon Osbourne. After a short introduction by Dolly Parton, the two took the stage together, where Sharon said:

“I’m honored to accept this award for my gorgeous husband. God knows I wish he was here to accept it himself… Ozzy is looking down on us right now… He rose to become one of the most recognizable and respected musicians. … To be honest with you, he was the most humble egomaniac you will ever meet. At the end of the day, he will always be a rock star… If Ozzy was here tonight … he would be so proud to receive this from the country that he loved.”

To close out the evening, the BRIT Awards delivered a thunderous tribute performance curated directly by Sharon. A powerhouse band consisting of musicians who have backed Ozzy throughout his career—keyboardist Adam Wakeman, bassist Robert Trujillo, drummer Tommy Clufetos, and guitarist Zakk Wylde—took the stage to perform a special arrangement of “No More Tears“, the title track from his smash-hit 1991 album, No More Tears. Pop star Robbie Williams, a longtime friend of the Osbourne family and a massive fan of the music, was personally invited by Sharon to handle the lead vocals for the tribute.
