Korn frontman Jonathan Davis has teamed up with renowned fashion designer Ashton Michael to launch a striking new capsule collection under Davis‘s pet brand, Freak On A Leash. The line, which dropped today, translates the aesthetics of rock and high fashion into unique apparel and accessories for pets, with a charitable component benefiting animal rescue.
Ashton Michael, known for creating looks for music superstars like Beyoncé, Post Malone, and Doja Cat, brings his design sensibilities to the pet world for the first time with this collaboration. The goal was to infuse the collection with Davis‘s signature style. Michael explained the vision:
“I think the one thing that I wanted to do was take what I would make as an inspiration for stage clothes (for Jonathan) and adapt it to the pets. Things that people like about or identify with Jonathan. Like his three eyebrow piercings being incorporated into the collars so that not only do you feel like you are getting a part of his brand for your pet but you’re getting a part of him as the musician, the artist, as this being that we all adore. So the beauty is in the details for me.”
For Davis, the project stems from a deep personal connection with animals and a desire to merge his style with his love for pets, all while supporting a good cause.
“The joy and love I get from my dog is like no other,” Davis stated. “It’s a special bond we have. To be able to make something to dress them up kind of like your own style… and then giving back to dogs who don’t have homes, it’s just something that makes me feel something warm in my dark little heart.”
The collection itself blends punk, metal, and high-fashion elements, featuring items designed to be both functional and visually impactful. Offerings include single and three-row spiked collars, bandanas with bold paisley, gradient, or leather-print motifs, denim vests available with patches or leather harness options, a matte gold leather leash with extension, and unique plush toys like an “Ouija” design and a suede tug rope. Prices range from $15 to $95, with apparel and collars available in sizes XS through XL.
A key aspect of the launch is its support for Pup Culture Rescue, a non-profit dog rescue based in Pasadena, California. A portion of the proceeds from the collection will be donated to the organization. Highlighting this connection, adoptable dogs from the rescue were featured prominently in the promotional photos and videos for the new line.
Freak On A Leash was initially launched by Davis in 2022. Aptly named after Korn‘s Grammy-winning, billion-stream hit single, the brand serves as Davis‘s personal homage to the pets in his life and the rock and horror aesthetics he loves. It offers a range of accessories and apparel beyond the new capsule, including harnesses, jackets, and charms.
The new Freak On A Leash x Ashton Michael collection is available now exclusively at FreakOnALeash.com.
This venture comes as Korn continues its significant presence in the music world. The band is slated to headline the UK’s Download Festival in June and has announced the “Korn Kanada” tour for this fall, featuring support from Gojira and Loathe. That run kicks off September 17th in Ottawa and wraps up on October 1st in Vancouver.
