Jim Root Responds To Fan Backlash Over Marilyn Manson Joining Slipknot Tour

Root addressed the issue after a fan expressed disappointment over Slipknot sharing the stage with Manson.

Slipknot guitarist Jim Root has responded to the growing backlash over Marilyn Manson being booked as a support act on portions of the band’s 2027 “(sic)est Stadium Tour,” explaining that he does not involve himself in the logistics of the band’s touring plans.

Root addressed the issue after a fan expressed disappointment over Slipknot sharing the stage with Manson, who has faced allegations of sexual misconduct from multiple women. Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, has denied the allegations and maintained that he has not engaged in wrongdoing.

Rather than commenting directly on the controversy surrounding Manson, Root explained that decisions concerning the band’s touring arrangements are outside his area of involvement.

“I stay out of the logistics of touring and all that,” Root said.

The guitarist went on to explain that his primary focus is on his work within the band as a musician: “I concentrate on writing and being a guitarist, so forgive my ignorance about who we do shows with. There are other people with much bigger brains than I that coordinate all that and I honestly don’t keep up with new bands or new music.”

Root’s response comes shortly after Slipknot revealed the extensive 2027 tour, which will take the band through North America and South America while featuring a rotating selection of support acts.

Manson is scheduled to appear at the tour’s opening night at Wembley Stadium in London on July 3, 2027, alongside Lorna Shore and Hatebreed. He and Hatebreed are also scheduled to support Slipknot at the Buenos Aires, Santiago and Bogotá shows in September.

The announcement has prompted criticism from some Slipknot fans, particularly over Manson‘s inclusion.

Thousands of comments were posted beneath the band’s social media announcement, with some fans saying they would no longer attend shows featuring Manson.

“Would’ve loved to see this but there’s literally nothing you could do to get my cash in Manson’s pockets,” one fan wrote.

Another fan called the booking “such a disappointment” and said they would no longer attend, while others also described Manson‘s inclusion as “disappointing”.

Manson has denied allegations made against him, including those publicly raised by his former partner Evan Rachel Wood in 2021. Wood accused Warner of grooming, manipulation and abuse during their relationship. Warner rejected her allegations and those made by other women, describing them as “horrible distortions of reality” and stating that his intimate relationships had “always been entirely consensual”.

Beyond Manson, Slipknot’s 2027 stadium tour will feature a wide range of support acts throughout its run. Bring Me The Horizon, Acid Bath, Lamb Of God, Polyphia, Motionless In White, Kublai Khan TX, Vended and Loathе are among the bands scheduled to appear on different dates.

The tour will kick off in London before moving through major stadiums and outdoor venues across the United States and Canada. The South American leg will then include appearances in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru and Colombia.
