Japanese Heavy Metal Legends Loudness Announce Global Tour To Celebrate 45th Anniversary

Loudness is continuing its massive 45th-anniversary celebration with a newly announced run of tour dates.

Loudness 2025

Loudness, the band that broke barriers for Japanese heavy metal on the global stage, is continuing its massive 45th-anniversary celebration with a newly announced run of tour dates. After kicking off the festivities in December, the quartet has confirmed a schedule that will take them across the United States, Japan, and Europe throughout the spring and summer of 2026.

The trek begins in the U.S. this March, starting with a performance at the Hell’s Heroes festival in Houston, followed by club dates in Texas and California. The band will also join the lineup for the Monsters of Rock Cruise, departing from Miami in April. Following the American leg, Loudness will return home for an extensive tour of Japan in May, hitting major venues from Fukuoka to Tokyo. The celebration moves to Europe in July for festival appearances in Spain and Sweden.

Formed in 1981, Loudness quickly became a pioneering force in the genre. They made history in 1984 as the first Japanese band to sign a recording contract with an international major label, Atlantic Records. Their influence continued to grow with the release of Thunder In The East (1985) and the hit single “Crazy Nights,” which climbed to No. 74 on the U.S. Billboard chart. They also hold the distinction of being the first Japanese act to perform at Madison Square Garden, where they opened for Mötley Crüe.

The band’s current roster features three of its original founding members: lead vocalist Minoru Niihara, guitarist Akira Takasaki, and bassist Masayoshi Yamashita. They are joined by drummer Masayuki Suzuki, who has been with the group since 2009.

The lineup has seen several shifts over the decades. After Niihara originally departed in 1988, the band recruited American vocalist Mike Vescera and later former EZO singer Masaki Yamada. However, Takasaki orchestrated a reunion of the original four members in 2001. Tragically, original drummer Munetaka Higuchi passed away in 2008 following a year-long battle with liver cancer.
