The long-running legal dispute between Perry Farrell and his Jane’s Addiction bandmates has quietly come to an end, bringing formal closure to the fallout from the band’s final performance in 2024.
According to People, Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, bassist Eric Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins have reached a settlement related to the onstage confrontation that occurred during Jane’s Addiction’s September 2024 show in Boston — an incident that forced the immediate cancellation of the group’s reunion tour. Court records indicate that the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles dismissed the case on Monday, December 22.
The dismissal followed shortly after all four musicians issued public statements confirming that they had resolved their internal differences. At the time, the band described the reconciliation as a final effort to ensure that Jane’s Addiction’s legacy would be defined by its music rather than by the circumstances surrounding its abrupt ending.
The lawsuit had been filed earlier this year by Navarro, Avery and Perkins, who alleged that Farrell’s conduct during the Boston show caused emotional distress and financial harm, along with breaches of contract and fiduciary duty. Navarro also included claims of assault and battery related to the onstage incident. The suit claimed that the canceled reunion tour resulted in losses totaling more than $10 million.
Farrell denied the allegations in his response, asserting that he acted without malice and in good faith, while challenging the legal basis of the claims brought against him.
The legal action stemmed from Jane’s Addiction’s September 13, 2024 performance at Leader Bank Pavilion, which ended abruptly after a confrontation between Farrell and Navarro unfolded in front of the audience. Within days of the incident, the band scrapped the remainder of its tour dates, initially stating that it had made the difficult decision to step away as a group.
Earlier this month, the band publicly clarified aspects of the tour’s cancellation, acknowledging that inaccurate statements had been made about Farrell’s mental health. Farrell also issued a separate apology to fans and his bandmates, expressing regret over how he handled the situation onstage.
