A cinematic look into the wild and unpredictable life of Ozzy Osbourne is officially in the works — and if things go according to plan, fans could see it hit theaters by summer 2027.
Often hailed as the Prince of Darkness, Osbourne may have stepped off the stage for good, but his story is far from over. His son, Jack Osbourne, recently confirmed that a long-gestating biopic is finally gaining momentum. The script is complete, a director is attached (though their identity hasn’t been revealed), and the project is moving into a rewrite phase under Sony Studios.
“We have the film on the way,” Jack told The Sun. “There’s real momentum now. It’s going to be raw. We’re not sugarcoating anything — we’re really laying it all out.”
The film aims to deliver a brutally honest, no-holds-barred portrait of Ozzy’s life — from his tough upbringing in Birmingham to his explosive rise with Black Sabbath, his struggles with addiction, and his unlikely rebirth as a solo artist and pop culture icon.
“If the Hollywood overlords give us the green light soon, we could be rolling cameras in the spring,” Jack added. “That means we’re potentially looking at a summer 2027 release.”
The news comes just days after Ozzy’s monumental final performance at the “Back to the Beginning” concert on July 5, 2025. Held at Villa Park in Birmingham, the event marked the final reunion of Black Sabbath and served as a massive farewell celebration for Ozzy’s legendary career. The concert raised an astonishing $190 million for charity, benefiting Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorn Children’s Hospice.
With Ozzy now officially retired from live performances, the upcoming biopic is poised to be the ultimate cinematic tribute to one of rock and metal’s most enduring figures — a raw, raucous, and deeply personal story of chaos, fame, and survival.
