Fresh off their triumphant headlining performance at London Stadium on June 28, Iron Maiden has unveiled a special highlight reel titled “Thank You London.” The video serves as a dynamic recap of the monumental concert, which saw the British heavy metal legends play their biggest non-festival headlining show in the UK to an immense crowd. You can watch it down below.
The London Stadium event, a significant stop on their ongoing “Run For Your Lives” tour, delivered a comprehensive journey through Iron Maiden‘s storied career. The monumental show at London Stadium captivated an estimated 70,000 to 75,000 fans. This performance held particular significance for founder and bassist Steve Harris, a lifelong supporter of West Ham Football Club, as the event took place on their revered home ground.
The show marked a heartfelt return to their roots for several members, with Harris, guitarists Dave Murray and Adrian Smith, and even retired drummer Nicko McBrain all originating from the surrounding areas. Harris had previously shared his enthusiasm when the show was initially announced last September, stating: “My love of football and my support of West Ham is no secret, and I know many of our fans around the world have shared that with me too. So we’re all very excited to be playing at the London Stadium as part of the ‘Run For Your Lives‘ tour. We can’t wait to see you all there!”
The setlist featured an array of fan favorites and classic anthems:
- “Murders In The Rue Morgue“
- “Wrathchild“
- “Killers“
- “Phantom Of The Opera“
- “The Number Of The Beast“
- “The Clairvoyant“
- “Powerslave“
- “2 Minutes To Midnight“
- “Rime Of The Ancient Mariner“
- “Run To The Hills“
- “Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son“
- “The Trooper“
- “Hallowed Be Thy Name“
- “Iron Maiden“
Encore:
- “Aces High“
- “Fear Of The Dark“
- “Wasted Years“
As the “Run For Your Lives” tour continues its highly anticipated run across Europe, Iron Maiden’s manager, Rod Smallwood issued an important message regarding concert etiquette, which resonates with the desire to capture genuine live moments as seen in the highlight reel. In a post titled “Put away your phones and get ready to Run For Your Lives!” shared on the band’s website, Smallwood directly appealed to fans to prioritize the immersive live experience over recording with mobile devices.
Smallwood elaborated on his request, highlighting the impact on both the band and fellow concertgoers: “We really want fans to enjoy the shows first hand, rather than on their small screens. The amount of phone use nowadays diminishes enjoyment, particularly for the band who are on stage looking out at rows of phones, but also for other concertgoers. We feel that the passion and involvement of our fans at shows really makes them special, but the phone obsession has now got so out of hand that it has become unnecessarily distracting especially to the band. I hope fans understand this and will be sensible in severely limiting the use of their phone cameras out of respect for the band and their fellow fans.”
