Iron Maiden performed for a massive crowd of 60,000 fans at Prague’s Letiště Praha Letňany on Saturday evening, May 31, as part of their ongoing “Run For Your Lives” world tour. The tour celebrates the 50th anniversary of the band’s formation by bassist Steve Harris.
The Prague concert was the third live appearance for the band’s new drummer, Simon Dawson, who officially replaced longtime member Nicko McBrain last December. Dawson previously played with Steve Harris in his side project, British Lion.
The band delivered a 17-song setlist packed with classics, including “The Number Of The Beast,” “Run To The Hills,” “The Trooper,” and “Fear Of The Dark”.
The setlist for the Prague show was as follows:
- “Murders In The Rue Morgue“
- Wrathchild”
- Killers”
- “Phantom Of The Opera”
- “The Number Of The Beast”
- “The Clairvoyant”
- “Powerslave”
- “2 Minutes To Midnight”
- “Rime Of The Ancient Mariner”
- “Run To The Hills”
- “Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son”
- “The Trooper”
- “Hallowed Be Thy Name”
- “Iron Maiden”
Encore:
- “Aces High“
- “Fear Of The Dark”
- “Wasted Years”
The tour is just one part of Iron Maiden‘s extensive 50th-anniversary celebrations. The band has planned several fan “meet-up” events, including Eddie’s official pop-up dive bar, which will appear in 20 cities on the tour for pre- and post-show gatherings. The band has noted they will not be present at these events. Additionally, a feature-length documentary film is scheduled for a worldwide cinema release later this year, and an official hardback book celebrating the band’s five-decade history will also be published.
The European leg of the tour is proving to be immensely popular, with over a million tickets already sold and most shows sold out.
