The blackout struck during “2 Minutes To Midnight“, cutting the performance short on a night that was being professionally filmed for the band’s upcoming “Run For Your Lives” tour concert film.
The timing could hardly have been worse. The show had been staged under tightly controlled conditions, with a phone-free standing area enforced using Yondr pouches to protect the visual quality of the filmed performance. Yet despite the arena being fully prepared for the high-profile shoot, the loss of power knocked out stage systems and lighting, forcing the band to stop playing without warning.
Fans inside the venue quickly turned to social media to share what was happening. Early reports made clear the problem wasn’t confined to the arena itself but stemmed from a broader electrical outage affecting the local neighborhood around La Défense. Although the lights flickered back on at certain points, the band did not immediately return, leaving the crowd in a prolonged state of limbo.
According to attendees posting on social media and Reddit, the delay went well past 20 minutes as technical crews scrambled to identify the fault. Some fans relayed that venue staff eventually confirmed the outage had come from outside the building, and that the arena’s systems had shut down improperly, requiring a full restart sequence once power was restored.
One concertgoer reported that the interruption lasted roughly an hour before the show finally got back underway. When Iron Maiden retook the stage, they reportedly wasted no time, diving straight into “Rime Of The Ancient Mariner” to pick the night back up.
Because the blackout hit during “2 Minutes To Midnight” and the band resumed about an hour later by launching into “Rime Of The Ancient Mariner“, it remains unclear whether Iron Maiden will re-record or adjust any portion of the setlist for the final version of the “Run For Your Lives” concert film.
