Iron Maiden Run For Your Lives First Show Recap

British heavy metal icons Iron Maiden launched their highly anticipated “Run For Your Lives” world tour last night, May 27th, at Budapest’s Papp László Sportaréna—and they’ve just dropped an official video recap of the show to mark the occasion.

This electrifying concert wasn’t just the first stop on the tour; it also introduced Simon Dawson, who stepped in as the band’s new drummer following Nicko McBrain’s departure last December. Fans were treated to an unforgettable night celebrating the band’s history, with a special setlist spanning Steve Harris’s 50 years at the helm of Iron Maiden. From their eponymous debut album Iron Maiden to the Fear of the Dark, the band’s early discography came roaring back to life in one of their most spectacular stage productions to date.

The Budapest concert sets the tone for the rest of the tour, with an impressive 31 more dates scheduled across European stadiums, festivals, and arenas. With over a million tickets sold and many shows already sold out, fans eager to catch Iron Maiden live should stay vigilant—additional tickets will likely be released from venue and production holds as the dates approach, and even on the day of the shows.

The “Run For Your Lives” world tour is part of Iron Maiden‘s broader 50th-anniversary celebrations. These celebrations will include special “fan meet-up” events in various cities, featuring Eddie’s official pop-up dive bar. These bars will offer Trooper beer and Darkest Red wine, food, exclusive merchandise, and entertainment. More details are available on ironmaiden.com, though the band will not be present at these events. Additionally, a feature-length documentary film will be released in cinemas worldwide later this year via Universal Pictures Content Group, and an official hardback book celebrating 50 years of Iron Maiden will be published by Thames & Hudson. More information on these releases is expected soon.
