Iron Maiden has been announced as a headliner for Austria’s Nova Rock festival in 2026, the latest date to be revealed for the band’s massive 50th-anniversary European run. The booking is a clear continuation of the band’s stated strategy to focus on major festival appearances for the final leg of their “Run For Your Lives” tour before their planned hiatus in 2027.
The legendary heavy metal band will top the bill on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at the festival held at Pannonia Fields in Nickelsdorf, Austria. The festival made the announcement on Tuesday, September 23, revealing Iron Maiden as their first major headliner for the 2026 edition.
“Here is our first big artist announcement!” the festival organizers wrote. “Which band are you most excited about?”
Iron Maiden will join a massive, four-day lineup that also includes headliners Volbeat, The Cure, and Bring Me The Horizon. The bill for Maiden‘s day is also stacked, featuring performances from Sabaton, Alter Bridge, and Sepultura.
The focus on major festival appearances is a deliberate strategy for the band’s 2026 tour. In a recent statement, bassist and founder Steve Harris explained their motivation.
“We’ve always enjoyed playing festivals, especially as we get to play to people who aren’t just there for us, and we love that challenge!” Harris said. “So we decided to revisit as many great Metal festivals as we could get to in this period.”
The 2026 tour dates will be the last chance for fans to see the band perform live for the foreseeable future. In their initial tour announcement last week, Iron Maiden confirmed they will be taking a “well-earned break from the road in 2027,” adding a sense of finality and urgency to all of their upcoming shows.
