Iron Maiden founder and lifelong West Ham United fan Steve Harris has unveiled the latest collaboration between his band and his favorite football club. The new football shirt celebrates the 50th anniversaries of two major 1975 events: Iron Maiden’s formation and West Ham’s historic FA Cup triumph.
The shirt is the newest addition to the ongoing “Die With Your Boots On” collection, a partnership born from Harris‘s deep connection to the club, for whom he played as a youth player.
The “Double Anniversary” shirt was prominently featured during Iron Maiden’s recent sold-out concert at West Ham’s London Stadium, where Harris and the band’s mascot, Eddie, wore it during the encore.
“The day really was something special and I didn’t really take it all in until much later,” Harris recalled in a statement. “We’d been wearing that shirt in all our football matches this season… so it just felt like the right thing to do. There were so many of our previous football shirts in the crowd — I hope fans grab this one too to remind them of that day.”
Modeled by current Hammers captain Jarrod Bowen, the shirt is a direct nod to the 1975 team. It features the classic claret and blue colors, the iconic 1975 Cup Final badge, and the Iron Maiden logo across the chest. The back of the shirt is adorned with Harris’s signature No. 11 and a special collaborative “IMFC” logo featuring a hammer and bass guitar.
Harris shared his fond memories of the 1975 FA Cup Final that inspired the design.
“I wasn’t at the game but what great memories,” he said. “Two goals from Alan Taylor and we won it! Frank Lampard and Pat Holland were in the team who used to coach me as a junior as well! Come On You Irons!”
The “Double Anniversary” shirt is available for purchase now at the official Iron Maiden and West Ham United stores.
