Ice Nine Kills is facing disappointment from a segment of their fanbase following a recent social media promotion for a Memorial Day merchandise sale. The controversy centers on an illustration posted to the band’s Instagram story, which many fans believe was generated using artificial intelligence.

The image in question depicts the iconic horror movie characters Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees sharing a moment grilling, with a link to the band’s online store labeled “Chop Here.” The post drew swift criticism from followers who took to social media to express their frustration, arguing that the band should support human creatives rather than relying on AI-generated content for their promotional materials.
As of now, Ice Nine Kills has not issued a public statement addressing the accusations. The story featuring the contested artwork reportedly remains visible on the band’s Instagram account, a detail first highlighted by the outlet Lambgoat.
Amid this controversy, the band is moving forward with extensive touring plans. Ice Nine Kills recently announced their “Hell Of A Summer” tour, a U.S. run set to kick off on August 10, 2025. The tour will feature support from Dayseeker, Kim Dracula, and The Funeral Portrait, with veteran punk band Mest joining for the final dates of the trek.
The tour culminates in a special event for the band’s dedicated followers: their own convention, the Silver Scream Con, which will host the final show on September 13, 2025, in Worcester, Massachusetts. Following the U.S. dates, Ice Nine Kills is also scheduled to embark on an arena tour across Europe and the UK this winter.
