Brian Burkheiser I Prevail

A significant lineup change has occurred within I Prevail, as the platinum-certified and twice Grammy-nominated rock group confirmed on May 15, 2025, that they have mutually parted ways with original clean vocalist Brian Burkheiser. Burkheiser‘s ability to tour had previously been impacted by his battle with Eagle’s syndrome, a condition characterized by throat and neck pain.

In an official statement, I Prevail addressed the change:

“To Our I Prevail Family: Today we share that we are mutually parting ways with Brian Burkheiser. This was a difficult decision, but we believe it is the right one and we are all grateful for the 10 epic years we shared together. We wish Brian nothing but success and happiness in his future endeavors.”

The band outlined how vocals will be handled moving forward, ensuring fans of their continued power live:

“Moving forward, Eric [Vanlerberghe] will continue to be the powerhouse frontman you’ve come to know and love. He’ll be backed up live by Dylan [Bowman] who you’ve seen in this role many times over the years at the shows we’ve performed without Brian. Rest assured, we will continue to deliver the high-energy shows that we’ve made a pillar of our band, and we will continue to perform all the bangers from our catalogue. All scheduled shows will go on exactly as planned.”

The statement concluded with an optimistic note: “New music coming soon… See you out there.”

Burkheiser, who handled clean vocals since I Prevail‘s formation, had his touring capacity impacted by Eagle’s syndrome, leading to co-vocalist/growler Eric Vanlerberghe taking on a larger vocal role, often assisted by guitarist Dylan Bowman, in recent live performances. Burkheiser has not yet issued a personal statement regarding his departure.

During Burkheiser‘s tenure, I Prevail rose to significant prominence in the rock world. The Michigan-based group earned platinum certifications, received two Grammy nominations (Best Rock Album for Trauma and Best Metal Performance for its lead single “Bow Down”), and saw their single “Hurricane” top Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart in 2020. Their latest album, True Power, was released in 2022 via Fearless Records and was supported by extensive, sold-out tours.

Despite this significant lineup change, I Prevail is committed to fulfilling all scheduled shows and is actively working on new music, signaling a new era for the band with Eric Vanlerberghe stepping fully into the frontman role.
