Hotel Chef Allegedly Dismissed After Taking Photo With Axl Rose

A chef at the Marriott Lima in Peru has reportedly been dismissed from his position after breaking a stringent company policy by posing for a photograph with Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose. The musician was staying at the hotel during the band’s recent stop in the city for their November 5 show.

According to the local news outlet Bajo Piura Noticias, the chef, Richard Perez Cuzcano, had been an employee at the hotel for over a decade. A lifelong fan of the rock legend, Cuzcano was tasked with preparing meals for Rose and his crew during their stay. After cooking for the singer, Cuzcano requested a photo, which allegedly violated the Marriott‘s strict rules prohibiting employees from interacting with guests beyond their professional duties or taking photographs.

Following his dismissal, the chef took to social media to express his feelings about the incident, making it clear that he valued the moment more than his employment. In a translated post, he reportedly wrote:

“I was the chef at the restaurant and I took a picture with Axl Rose himself after cooking for him. Yesterday, I was fired for breaking that rule. Was it worth it? It was and it will be until my dying day.”

The Instagram post containing the photo of Cuzcano and Rose now features a different, more lyrical caption that references the Guns N’ Roses hit “November Rain.”

“How do I explain to my child that this will happen in a few years, that a day will come that he will become a cook and a night will cook like never before for W. Axl Rose. And that he will stretch forth his hand. What if it was worth it???? It was worth it, it is worth it and it will continue to be worth it until the last day.”

It is not immediately clear if the caption was edited by Cuzcano or if his employment status has changed since the initial reports of his firing surfaced.
