The third single from the Helloween co-founder’s first solo album in a decade arrives with a video shot in Slovakia.
Kai Hansen has released “Wait And See“, the third single from Born With A Hammer, which is out on September 18 through earMUSIC.
It follows “Feeding The Beast“, which arrived with the album announcement in June, and “Welcome To Life“. Where that second single leaned on speed, the label describes this one as sitting among the heavier material on the record, built on riffs and a forward-pushing rhythm with an electronic undercurrent running beneath it.
The accompanying video steps away from performance footage. It was assembled from material shot during a trip to Slovakia and shows Hansen driving a Mustang, travelling and working in the studio.
Born With A Hammer runs to ten songs and is Hansen‘s first solo album since XXX – Three Decades In Metal, issued under the Hansen & Friends name in 2016.
earMUSIC credit production to Eike Freese, Hansen and Alexander Dietz, though most announcements have listed Freese alone. The recording band is Freese and Dietz of Heaven Shall Burn on guitars, Dan Wilding of Carcass on drums, and Tim Hansen on guitar. Wilding and Dietz both worked on XXX – Three Decades In Metal.
Tim Hansen is Kai‘s son, and plays in the German band Induction.

Hansen was born in Hamburg in 1963 and started playing in 1978 in a band called Gentry with Piet Sielck, who went on to co-found Iron Savior and to work as a producer.
He co-founded Helloween with guitarist Michael Weikath in 1984 and stayed until 1989, in which time the band released an EP and three albums, among them Keeper Of The Seven Keys parts one and two, the records that did more than any others to establish European power metal.
After leaving he formed Gamma Ray, which became one of the most durable acts in German metal, and has since recorded and played with Blind Guardian, Angra, Michael Kiske, HammerFall, Stormwarrior and Unisonic. He rejoined Helloween in 2016 for the lineup that brought together members from across the band’s history.
