Havok have released “The Ultimate Weapon“, a new single accompanied by a video directed by K. Hunter Lamar.
The Denver band timed it to land immediately before they go on the road.
“We’re excited to debut this new song right before our two headline tours begin,” they said. “We’ll be playing ‘The Ultimate Weapon‘ live and look forward to hearing crowds shout the choruses with us. Driving riffs, rock ‘n’ roll attitude, and anti-authoritarian lyrics. This is what heavy metal is all about. This is Havok.”
It is the second song they have issued through BLKIIBLK, following “Fifth Generation Warfare“, which marked the signing in May. The band say more new music is coming this year.
BLKIIBLK is the heavy imprint of Frontiers Label Group, and released Megadeth‘s self-titled final album in January.
Havok begin a European and UK run this month with Blood Red Throne, Xonor and Eradikated.
A 26-date North American headline tour follows in the autumn, announced in August, with Hellripper, Slackjaw and Xoth supporting. It opens on October 21 at Metro Music Hall in Salt Lake City and finishes on November 20 at the Gothic Theatre in Denver, a home-town show to close it out.
Havok have released five albums: Burn in 2009, Time Is Up in 2011, Unnatural Selection in 2013, Conformicide in 2017 and V in 2020. Mark Lewis produced the last of those, released through Century Media, and it drew the strongest reviews of their career, with Metal Hammer writing that they had “nailed 21st century thrash”.
In 2024 they put out the New Eyes EP, their first independent release, before signing to BLKIIBLK this year.
The band formed in Colorado in the mid-2000s around vocalist and guitarist David Sanchez, and have spent much of the last decade touring with Megadeth, Anthrax, Testament, Exodus, Sepultura, Kreator, Suicidal Tendencies, Killswitch Engage and Children Of Bodom.
