Grammy-winning rock act Greta Van Fleet is officially back in action. Fresh off an intimate, sweat-soaked comeback performance at New York City’s legendary Bowery Ballroom on May 27, the band has unleashed a brand new single and accompanying music video titled “Play Your Games“.
New track was recorded in Tennessee and co-produced by the band alongside Mike Elizondo, whose previous credits include Fiona Apple, Turnstile, and Sheryl Crow. Inspired by an unreleased demo from their own archives, “Play Your Games” channels the raw, chaotic energy of the band’s earliest days playing small clubs in Frankenmuth, Michigan.
Guitarist Jake Kiszka described the ethos behind the new single:
“It’s this beautiful nature of seizing a moment.”
Fans in attendance at the sold-out Bowery Ballroom gig were the first to hear the new material. The group used the rare club show, a massive scale-down from their previous arena-sized stop at Madison Square Garden, to debut “Play Your Games” live, as well as another unreleased track called “Tear It Down“. The concert marked the group’s first time sharing a stage since September 2024.
Vocalist Josh Kiszka shared his thoughts on getting back in front of a live audience:
“To take the stage again and share new music feels profoundly emotional and exciting. To see people singing and celebrating in this moment is a reminder of the power of music, and there’s so much more to come.”
During the downtime that followed the touring cycle for their 2023 studio album, Starcatcher, the members remained creatively active. Bassist Sam Kiszka and drummer Daniel Wagner contributed to The Dreamin’ Kind, the 2026 full-length from Pennsylvania singer-songwriter Langhorne Slim.
Meanwhile, Jake Kiszka launched a new side project called Mirador alongside Chris Turpin of Ida Mae, releasing a new EP titled The Gathering At Badon Hill. He also landed a cameo as a New Jersey club guitarist in the recent Bruce Springsteen biographical film, “Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere“.
With the release of “Play Your Games” and its official music video directed by Moonbase, Greta Van Fleet is setting the stage for an ambitious new era, proving they remain one of the most vital forces in modern rock.
