Greg Puciato has firmly pushed back against speculation that his departure from the metalcore supergroup Better Lovers was caused by internal drama. The split was officially announced earlier yesterday, February 24, with the band confirming they are currently seeking a new vocalist to complete their next album.

Better Lovers broke the news to their fanbase with the following statement:

Better Lovers is parting ways with Greg Puciato.”

“We’re proud of the work we’ve done together but we are moving in another direction.”

“To all of our fans, thank you for riding with us these past few years. We’ve accomplished so much in such a short time with your support and we’re still beyond excited to continue down this road with you.”

“The four of us are finishing writing a new album which we are extremely proud of and currently looking for a new singer.”

“Thanks for your understanding , we’ll see you soon.”

Puciato, famed for his tenure in The Dillinger Escape Plan and his work with The Black Queen and Jerry Cantrell, initially responded with a brief message aimed at preventing negative theories from spreading:

“NO BAD BLOOD EVERYONE’S COOL DON’T SPECULATE LOVE THESE PEOPLE AND LOVE THE BAND ROOTING FOR THEM ALL COLLECTIVELY AND INDIVIDUALLY THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR MAKING THE LAST FEW YEARS SPECIAL LONG LIVE THE FROG”

Despite his attempt to clear the air, fans continued to theorize about wicked reasons for the breakup. This prompted Puciato to return to Instagram later in the evening to shut down the rumors once and for all. In a new Instagram story, he insisted that people can go their separate ways without conflict.

He wrote:

“SOMETIMES THERE ISN’T MORE TO THE STORY.”

“EVER THINK OF THAT? “

“HOLY S**T WHAT A THOUGHT “

“PEOPLE GOING SEPARATE WAYS WITHOUT DRAMA?”

“THAT’S IMPOSSIBLE!”

“SOMETIMES PEOPLE SAY OKAY HERE’S WHERE I WANNA GO, HERE’S WHAT I WANT, SOMEONE ELSE CAN WANT SOMETHING ELSE, AND THE SHARED MOMENT IN TIME IS OVER. THINGS AREN’T LESS VALUABLE JUST BECAUSE THEY’RE IMPERMANENT. THE MOMENT WILL ALWAYS BE THERE IN MEMORIES AND IN SONGS. AND SOMETIMES, IN CARTOON FROGS. AND MAYBE, DOWN THE LINE, THERE WILL BE ANOTHER MOMENT. OR MAYBE NOT BOTH ARE EQUALLY OKAY.”

“jordanfrombuffalo @mitchbhavin @qooseshoes and @willputney ARE ALL S-CLASS PEOPLE. PLEASE CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THEM. @betterloversband”
