Fans hoping to catch “The Voice of Rock” on U.S. soil this spring will unfortunately have to wait. Glenn Hughes, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame bassist and vocalist known for his legendary stints with Deep Purple, Trapeze, and currently Black Country Communion, has officially canceled his entire upcoming American tour, due to a “minor health issue”.
The run, which was set to bring his “The Chosen Years” show to venues across the country starting March 27 in San Juan Capistrano, California, and concluding May 10 in Tempe, Arizona, has been called off to allow the 74-year-old musician to address a personal medical matter.
In a statement addressing the cancellation, Hughes did not disclose specific details regarding the condition but assured fans that he is following professional guidance to ensure his long-term well-being.
“I’m taking advice from my medical team, who I am working closely with. Hoping to see you on the road of happy destiny.”
Ticket holders for the affected dates are advised that refunds for both general admission and VIP upgrades will be available at their original point of purchase.
The cancellation is particularly disappointing given the ambitious nature of the tour. “The Chosen Years” was billed not just as a concert, but as a definitive two-hour career retrospective. The setlist was designed to span five decades of rock history, featuring cuts from Deep Purple (Marks III and IV), Trapeze, Hughes/Thrall, his collaborations with Tony Iommi, and his modern work with Black Country Communion.
The tour was also set to showcase material from his latest solo effort, Chosen, which dropped on September 5, 2025, via Frontiers Music Srl. The album has been well-received, spawning singles like the title track, “Voice In My Head,” and “Into The Fade.”
Hughes had planned to hit the road with a power trio lineup featuring guitarist Søren Andersen and drummer Ash Sheehan. Despite this setback, the bassist remains coming off a highly active year; throughout 2025, he completed extensive touring runs across Europe and South America, wrapping up a trek in Bogota, Colombia, just last November.
