After three decades away from the road, Canadian rock legends Triumph are gearing up for a historic 50th-anniversary tour in 2026. In a new interview with “The Afternoon Rock Ride With Bilal” on Montreal’s CHOM 97.7 FM, drummer and vocalist Gil Moore addressed recent confusion regarding the band’s touring lineup, specifically regarding the participation of bassist Mike Levine.
While the tour promises a celebration of the band’s classic era, Moore confirmed that while he and guitarist Rik Emmett are committed to every date, Levine‘s involvement will be limited due to health issues.
“Rik and myself will be on stage playing the whole show,” Moore told host Bilal Butt. “We’re hoping Mike Levine will be there. He’s gonna be at selected shows, but Rik and I will be at every show.”
Moore elaborated on Levine‘s condition, noting that while the bassist is enthusiastic about the project, the rigors of a full tour are currently not feasible for him.
“Well, Mike, he’s had some struggles, so that’s why I say he’ll be at select shows as he’s able, but he can’t commit to being at all the dates,” Moore explained. “He’s very, very pumped up about the tour, so he’s very much part of everyday discussions with Triumph… and we’ve got every hope that he’s gonna be at as many shows as he can make.”
To ensure a powerful sound, the band has assembled a formidable backing lineup. Returning to the fold is Bon Jovi guitarist Phil X, who previously played with Triumph on their 1992 album Edge of Excess. They have also recruited the rhythm section from Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators: drummer/keyboardist Brent Fitz and bassist Todd Kerns.
“We brought Phil X back into the band… So we got a double-barreled shotgun on guitar,” Moore said. “And we also have — we borrowed Brent Fitz and Todd Kerns from Slash‘s band, so they’re gonna be there to help us as well.”
Moore also shut down internet rumors suggesting that the classic members would be taking frequent breaks during the set or handing off duties to the hired guns. He emphasized that he and Emmett are preparing intensely to deliver the full experience fans expect.
“I doubt it [that we will take breaks]. I mean, it’s possible that we’ll take a break for a song or something like that and pass the baton around, so to speak. But I would say for the majority of the show, we’ll both be on stage,” he asserted. “Rik‘s got a lot of vocals that are very high, and I did too… I actually got a vocal coach to start getting back in shape and stuff, so I’m gonna sing as many of my songs as I can… anybody thinking that we’re not gonna be on stage or whatever, it’s just false Internet nonsense.”
As for the setlist, Moore revealed that the band is actively listening to their fanbase.
“We’re taking some suggestions from the audience… We’ll do as many songs as we can that people want, and try not to disappoint anybody.”
The tour will feature support from fellow Canadian icons April Wine.
