Ghost have released the first trailer for “2 Big To Rig“, the concert film documenting the end of their “Skeletour” world tour, with tickets going on sale the same day.
Directed by Amir Chamdin, who also helmed the band’s 2024 film “Rite Here Rite Now“, the picture marks their second project with Trafalgar Releasing. It reaches cinemas and IMAX screens worldwide on Wednesday, August 26 for a limited run.
The whole thing was captured on 16mm across two sold-out nights at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City in September 2025, in front of a combined crowd of close to 40,000. The format is the point: the grain of 16mm gives the footage a period texture that sits oddly and effectively against a production this modern.
Where “Rite Here Rite Now” wove concert footage into an original narrative extending the band’s mythology, this one does not. It is the live ritual and nothing else, cut with backstage segments following the crew who assemble the spectacle night after night.
That crew focus explains the title. In the trailer, a member of the production team says the stage setup is “too big to rig, but we do pull it off everyday” (via Rolling Stone). It doubles as a nod to Ghost bringing “Skeletour” to a close in February 2026 after 70 shows across North America, Europe and Mexico.
There is a practical reason this film matters more than most concert releases.
“Skeletour” ran phone-free for its entire ten-month duration. Ticket-holders kept their handsets on them, sealed inside magnetically locked Yondr pouches for the length of the show. Ghost had trialled the policy at two concerts in 2023, liked the result, and rolled it out across the whole tour.
The upshot is that “2 Big To Rig” contains the only professionally shot footage of Papa V Perpetua and the Nameless Ghouls from any date on the run. There is no fan-filmed archive to fall back on.
The production also could not travel everywhere. The staging was too large to move beyond North and South America and Europe, and the film was conceived partly to reach audiences in territories the tour could never physically reach.
It was also made for a specific group of ticket-holders who appear in it. The Mexico City residency was originally booked for three nights. The first was pulled at short notice after Tobias Forge, who performs as Papa V Perpetua, came down with food poisoning, leaving two.

The break she refers to is already underway. Ghost are on hiatus, with Forge having said he reached a point where he needed to be at home. Speaking to Full Metal Jackie earlier this year, he pointed out that his children are 17 and “not gonna be around for an eon.”
The film runs through material spanning all six Ghost albums, including 2025’s chart-topping Skeletá, alongside non-album favourites “Mary On A Cross“, “Kiss The Go-Goat” and “The Future Is A Foreign Land“.
“2 Big To Rig” opens wide on August 26, presented in IMAX where available. Early screenings are scheduled for August 24 in Berlin, London, Los Angeles, Mexico City and Sydney. Exact dates vary by territory, with showtimes and ticketing at 2BigToRig.com.
The 2026 North American leg opened January 21 at the Kia Center in Orlando and closed February 23 at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.
Skeletá, released April 25, 2025, gave Ghost their first American No. 1. It entered the Billboard 200 dated May 10 with 86,000 equivalent album units, 89 percent of which — 77,000 — came from traditional album sales. Vinyl alone accounted for more than 44,000 copies, the largest vinyl sales week for a hard rock album since Luminate began tracking in 1991, and the third largest for any rock album in that period.
It was the first hard rock album to top the Billboard 200 since AC/DC‘s Power Up in 2020, and improved on the band’s previous best showings — No. 2 for Impera in 2022, No. 3 for Prequelle in 2018.
