Ghost Makes History With First U.S. No. 1 Hard Rock Album In Four Years

Billboard.com reports that Ghost‘s new album, Skeletá, achieved No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with strong first-week sales in the US. The album garnered 86,000 equivalent units, with a significant 77,000 from traditional album sales, including over 44,000 vinyl copies.

The success of Skeletá on the Billboard 200 is underscored by its impressive vinyl sales. Not only is it the first hard rock album to hit No. 1 since AC/DC‘s Power Up in 2020, but its first-week vinyl figures represent the largest for a hard rock album in the modern era (since 1991). This also places “Skeletá” as the third-highest selling rock album on vinyl in the modern era, behind only Blink-182‘s One More Time… and Boygenius‘s The Record, both from 2023.

Skeletá arrived on April 25th, 2025, via Loma Vista Recordings.

Skeletá promises a shift in focus for the band. While previous albums like 2022’s Impera explored grand, external themes such as the rise and fall of empires, the new album turns inward. Described as their “most unflinchingly introspective work to date,” Skeletá will explore personal emotional landscapes and universal human sentiments.

Ghost is currently deep into the European leg of their 2025 World Tour (“Skeletour“), which began on April 15th in Manchester, UK, and wraps up on May 24th in Oslo, Norway. Following the European run, the band will bring their spectacle to North America, starting July 9th in Baltimore, Maryland, and concluding on August 16th in Houston, Texas, with additional dates planned for Mexico City in September.
