The all-gay AC/DC tribute band GayC/DC has released a new video for their song “Gay Boy Boogie,” a homoerotic reimagining of AC/DC‘s “Bad Boy Boogie.” The video, released to coincide with Pride Month in June 2025, also pays homage to Twisted Sister‘s iconic rebellion anthem “We’re Not Gonna Take It.” You can watch the video below.

GayC/DC frontman Christopher Freeman, also a founding member and bassist of queercore legends Pansy Division, describes the song: “On this one, I really let it loose. Some lines are a bit shocking.” He adds, “For me, I feel like the lyrics to most of AC/DC‘s songs are not as important as the music, even to them. Most of their songs feel like personality pieces… a means to convey an attitude or storytelling by train-of-thought. So I adopted that same foundation and used rewrites to fortify our band’s attitude and sense of outrageous fun.”

Drummer Brian Welch explains the inspiration behind the video: “The idea to do a video for ‘Bad Boy Boogie‘ was considered soon after we completed the ‘Highway To Hell’ video. It’s one of the raunchier songs lyrically that we do live, and I thought ‘Why don’t we do something fun for this?’ After all, people come to our shows expecting an R rated show, so let’s give ’em an R rated video too!”

The video, directed by punk rock mastermind Frank Meyer of The Streetwalkin’ Cheetahs, acts as a prequel to their “Highway to Hell” video, with L.A. Guns‘ Johnny Martin reprising his role as “Waldo.”

Welch elaborates on the Twisted Sister homage: “This was our love letter to Twisted Sister and homage to director Marty Callner but with a GayC/DC twist. (The late Callner was an acclaimed director for videos by Bon Jovi, KISS, and Whitesnake among others, as well as “We’re Not Going to Take It.” He passed away in March 2025).”

The video features Joanie Pimentel (No Small Children) as Waldo’s mom and Don Speziale, who worked with Freeman on Pansy Division videos, as the dad.

Welch further explains their appreciation for Twisted Sister: “We love Twisted Sister who took rock and drag further than anybody at the time. This is our homage and ‘thank you’ for giving us as young gay kids the opportunity to see fully grown men in drag every day on MTV decades before RuPaul‘s Drag Race was a thing.”

Twisted Sister’s lead singer Dee Snider himself has given the video his approval, stating, “I think this is great!”

GayC/DC, described as “literally the gayest AC/DC cover band out there” by Metal Injection, is known for reworking AC/DC‘s catalog with a gay twist. Their repertoire includes songs like “Dirty Dudes (Done Dirt Cheap)” and “Big Balls.” The band consists of Christopher Freeman, Brian Welch, Glen Pavan, Patrick Goodwin, and Steve McKnight.
