It has been a year of significant transitions for Jay Weinberg, and the drummer is now preparing for perhaps his biggest role yet. The current Suicidal Tendencies timekeeper and his wife, Chloe, have officially announced that they are expecting their first child.
Weinberg shared the life update with fans via Instagram on Wednesday, posting a photo of the couple standing outdoors and proudly displaying an ultrasound image. Weinberg captioned the announcement with a sentiment that rivals the energy of any tour: “Embarking on our most exciting adventure yet.”
The news was met with an immediate outpouring of support from the rock and metal fraternity, particularly from Weinberg‘s fellow drummers. Icons such as Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), Charlie Benante (Anthrax, Pantera), John Tempesta (The Cult), and Greyson Nekrutman (Sepultura) were among the many musicians who flooded the comments section to offer their congratulations to the couple.
This personal milestone arrives during a creatively fertile period for Weinberg. Following his high-profile exit from Slipknot, he quickly cemented his place in the lineup of crossover thrash legends Suicidal Tendencies and the funk-metal supergroup Infectious Grooves. Additionally, he recently began rolling out material from his new solo collaborative project, debuting the atmospheric track “Sandstone”, which features vocals from Deafheaven‘s George Clarke.
“It’s the first song I’ve ever released under my own name, and it’s the first song in a series of collaborations, an EP that I have that’s in various stations of completion, but that I’m hoping to have out in the early part of 2026,” he told Australia’s Wall Of Sound.
Weinberg and Chloe have been together for several years, having gotten engaged against the scenic backdrop of Machu Picchu in 2019. They were married in September 2020 in a private ceremony held amidst the constraints of the global pandemic.
