Former Ratt’s Singer Stephen Pearcy Slammed By Fans Over Recent Live Performance: ‘Abomination’

Recent video clip from a concert has sparked a discussion among fans regarding the 68-year-old frontman’s current vocal performance.

Stephen Pearcy, the distinctive voice of multi-platinum glam metal band Ratt in the 1980s, is currently on tour performing the band’s biggest hits. However, a recent video clip from a concert has sparked a discussion among fans regarding the 68-year-old frontman’s current vocal performance.

The TikTok video, shared this week, shows Pearcy and his bandmates performing their iconic song “Round and Round.” Dressed in his signature style, including sparkly snakeskin-printed pants and a studded black leather jacket, Pearcy visually embodied the rock star persona. Despite his stage presence, some viewers in the comments section expressed disappointment with his vocal delivery.

Comments ranged from direct criticisms to suggestions for the veteran singer. One person wrote: “Pearcy just talking not singing.” Another fan said: “Wow just wow…one of my favorite ’80s bands and my gateway into metal bands and now they are an abomination.” A third comment urged: “Stephen we love you but it’s time to hang it bro,” with a further suggestion that: “Absolutely nothing wrong with lip syncing at this point.”

Conversely, many fans came to Pearcy‘s defense, emphasizing different aspects of a live performance. One supporter pointed out: “It’s not about how well they sing or look but can they get their audience to escape life’s problems for a little while.” Another fan enthusiastically commented, “Wow!!! He sounds AMAZING!!!”

Interestingly, Pearcy has previously embraced the “hair metal” label that many of his ’80s contemporaries resisted. As reported by Blabbermouth earlier this year, Pearcy found the designation amusing. “You know what? When it first pretty much started, [they] were starting to introduce our bunch of bands as that, I thought it was funny,” Pearcy said, adding, “Everybody’s all uptight. And I’m, like, ‘It’s kind of cool,’ I go, ‘because you’re gonna be played now on a lot of places and be identified with the ’80s scene just being called hair metal. So do something with it.'”
