Foo Fighters have surprise-released a new, six-song live EP titled Are Playing Where??? Vol. 1, capturing the raw energy of their recent intimate club tour. In a move to give back to the communities that hosted them, all proceeds from the Bandcamp-exclusive release will be donated to local charities fighting food insecurity in the cities where the tracks were recorded.

The new EP, which dropped on Friday, October 3, features what a press release calls “absolutely ripping live tracks recorded in front of dozens, possibly hundreds of lucky fans at the band’s recent surprise club gigs.” The recordings were captured at their pop-up shows in San Luis Obispo and Santa Ana, California; Washington, D.C.; and New Haven, Connecticut. All proceeds will benefit charities in those four cities.

The tracklist for the EP leans heavily on the band’s raw, early material, with five of the six songs originating from the era of their 1995 self-titled debut album. It includes deep cuts like “Wattershed” and “Weenie Beenie,” alongside the fan-favorite bonus track “Winnebago.”

The EP is also the first official release to feature the drumming of the band’s newest member, Ilan Rubin. The former Nine Inch Nails drummer made his live debut with the Foo Fighters during the string of surprise club shows in September.

Are Playing Where??? Vol. 1 Tracklist:

  1. “Alone + Easy Target” (Live From Somewhere 2025)
  2. “Exhausted” (Live From Somewhere 2025)
  3. “Wattershed” (Live From Somewhere 2025)
  4. “Weenie Beenie” (Live From Somewhere 2025)
  5. “White Limo” (Live From Somewhere 2025)
  6. “Winnebago” (Live From Somewhere 2025)

Ilan Rubin has officially replaced Josh Freese as the drummer for the Foo Fighters, following Freese’s dismissal from the band in May. Meanwhile, Freese has returned to his previous role as the touring drummer for Nine Inch Nails, a position he held from 2005 to 2008.
