The Foo Fighters are reportedly planning to enter an “indefinite hiatus” after frontman Dave Grohl recently disclosed that he had fathered a child outside of his marriage.
The band abruptly canceled their scheduled performance at the Soundside Music Festival in Bridgeport, Connecticut, with just three days’ notice.
This comes after Grohl‘s unexpected announcement last month, revealing that he had welcomed a baby girl with an unidentified woman, despite being married to Jordyn Blum since 2003.
A source close to the band revealed the reasons behind the hiatus, with one insider sharing the details with The Sun, stating: “It’s been a turbulent few years, with the loss of their best friend, drummer Taylor Hawkins, the death of Dave‘s mum and now the birth of his new child.
“He wants to be at home and focus on earning back the trust of his family. Being on the road isn’t the best thing for any of them at the moment. It feels like a hiatus is the best thing for them collectively.”
Dave Grohl, often referred to as rock’s ‘nice guy,’ shocked his fans with a surprising announcement last month, writing on social media: “I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage. I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness.”
“We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.”
While the news came as a major shock to many, those familiar with the situation appeared less surprised.
An insider told People Magazine: “We keep reading over and over again how heartbroken everyone is because Dave was supposed to be the ‘good guy’, the rockstar that didn’t have to do those rockstar things. And people are crazy about the guy, but there is a rockstar side.”
