Five Finger Death Punch are deep into the early stages of creating their next studio album, with guitarist Zoltan Bathory confirming that a substantial amount of material has already been captured for what will become the band’s tenth full-length release.
Speaking in a new interview with longtime radio host Abe Kanan of Audacy, Bathory explained that the band have been steadily collecting ideas rather than following a traditional demo-based process. Thanks to modern recording technology, many of those ideas are already preserved at a quality level suitable for a finished album.
He said (as transcribed by Blabbermouth):
“There’s always bits and pieces in the vault, so that’s kind of, like, when you have ideas… Today’s technology allows you to just grab whatever you want, and it’s in a pretty decent quality, usable quality, basically. So, we’ve been capturing things, ideas and this and that. And right now — I just went through the folder of what we have, [and] we have about 25-ish songs that eventually are gonna get chopped down to the ones that gonna make it. But that’s where we are. Maybe two or three of them have vocals on it already, to some degree. So, we’re working on it. And this is still the demoing phase, kind of. Actually, I don’t even say ‘demo’, because we don’t really demo [music]. That’s what I meant by technology is there now that you can start recording and it’s keepers [for the album]. But we are going to the proper studio probably somewhere in February.”
While the final tracklist has yet to take shape, Bathory also offered insight into the sonic direction the band is exploring this time around. According to him, the new material carries a cinematic quality that subtly ties the songs together, without leaning fully into a conceptual framework.
“The new record has a little bit of this soundtrack quality. The songs that we are writing, almost all of them has a little bit of that. It was actually sort of a goal to kind of… We don’t wanna write a concept album, but it has a little bit of a soundtracky vibe to it.”
The upcoming release will follow AfterLife, which arrived in 2022 and marked the band’s ninth studio album.
In addition to new music, Five Finger Death Punch recently unveiled the first leg of their 2026–2027 world tour. Produced by Live Nation, the extensive 48-city run is set to begin on July 20 at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Camden, New Jersey, before concluding on October 23 at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, Virginia.
Platinum-certified outlaw country artist Cody Jinks will appear as a special guest on the tour, supporting his current album In My Blood, while Eva Under Fire will round out the lineup as the opening act. The band is expected to release their new album in conjunction with the tour, which will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Five Finger Death Punch and feature both new material and long-standing fan favorites.
