Multi-platinum hard rock giants Five Finger Death Punch have unveiled their tenth studio album, Legacy, marking two decades as one of the genre’s biggest acts. The digital edition lands on July 31, with CD, vinyl and cassette formats following on September 18 via Better Noise Music. To go with the announcement, the band has also released a brand-new single and video, “De Oppresso Liber“.
As the title hints, the record is built around the band’s journey. Guitarist and co-founder Zoltan Bathory explained the thinking behind it.
“Every album is a snapshot of who we were at that particular moment in time, and Legacy is exactly what the title suggests,” he said. “It’s a reflection on the journey, the lessons, the victories, the struggles, and everything we’ve experienced over the last two decades.”
He added: “What makes that journey meaningful is that we didn’t make it alone. We traveled this road alongside millions of fans around the world and somehow became part of each other’s lives. That’s an incredible thing to reflect on twenty years later.”
Vocalist Ivan Moody stressed that the album is just as much about the future as the past.
“At the same time, Legacy isn’t about looking backward. 20 years is a milestone, not a destination. We’re incredibly proud of this record because it captures everything people love about Five Finger Death Punch while also pointing toward where we’re headed next,” he said.
He finished: “Our philosophy has always been that this journey doesn’t come with a self-imposed ceiling. Every goal we’ve reached simply revealed another horizon beyond it. We never believed the sky was the limit; if anything, it’s where the true journey begins. Here’s to our shared legacy.”
The newly released track takes its name from a U.S. Army Special Forces motto that translates to “to liberate the oppressed.” Bathory said the song was written as a tribute to those willing to put themselves on the line for others.
“‘De Oppresso Liber’ is more than just a motto,” he stated. “It’s a calling. It’s a philosophy. It represents a willingness to stand between danger and those who cannot defend themselves. Throughout human history, there have always been people who were drawn to accept that responsibility. This song is our way of paying respect to that mindset.”
The album’s first single, “Eye Of The Storm“, arrived just last month and has already made a strong impression. The track has climbed into the Top 5 at Rock Radio this week and racked up more than 3.9 million streams on Spotify, along with 1.6 million views for its official lyric video on YouTube.

The album drops as Five Finger Death Punch gear up for the first leg of their 20th Anniversary World Tour. The North American run features special guest Cody Jinks and rock act Eva Under Fire, before the trek heads to arenas across the UK and Europe in early 2027 with Lamb Of God and Bleed From Within. Across their 20 years, the band has amassed more than 15 billion streams worldwide and a long run of chart-topping rock singles, cementing their place as one of modern hard rock’s most successful names.
