A first look at “Ozzy Osbourne: Prince Of Darkness” has surfaced ahead of its 28 August opening in Orlando.
Footage from inside “Ozzy Osbourne: Prince Of Darkness” has appeared online, three days before the haunted house opens at Universal Orlando Resort. The “Exploring Attractions” channel on YouTube has posted a walkthrough of the attraction, which runs at Halloween Horror Nights from 28 August in Orlando and 3 September at Universal Studios Hollywood.
The house covers 45 years of Osbourne‘s solo career and is built around “Crazy Train“, with the façade at Hollywood designed as a wrecked, abandoned train station. John Murdy, executive producer of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood, explained the structure to Brands Untapped.
“We are pulling inspiration from his life and his musical career as a solo artist. Obviously, Ozzy‘s most famous solo track of all time would be ‘Crazy Train‘, so that literally led to the leaping-off point of where we are going to build the façade to look like an abandoned, blown-out train station. We are going to literally get on the Crazy Train to ride through the different, key moments in Ozzy‘s career. So things like ‘Diary Of A Madman‘ inform the idea of the Osbourne asylum… The idea of ‘Bark At The Moon‘, the werewolf story, lends itself to doing something at the graveyard with the full moon… Then the idea of the Prince Of Darkness suggests some kind of cathedral-type throne room where we can see his ultimate incarnation come to life,” he said.
The two parks are running different versions. Hollywood’s begins near Birmingham, where Osbourne was born, and works forward through the decades. Orlando’s takes guests through ruins and dungeons before they board the train. Both feature several incarnations of the man himself, among them Madman Ozzy, Werewolf Ozzy and the Prince Of Darkness.
Scenes draw on Blizzard Of Ozz, Diary Of A Madman, Bark At The Moon, No More Tears, Scream and Ordinary Man, with Murdy saying all thirteen of Osbourne‘s albums fed into it. Universal have described the attraction as a living horror movie and a non-traditional memorial. It is the tenth and final house on the Orlando lineup this year.
Murdy‘s reference to a previous collaboration points back to 2013, when Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood staged Black Sabbath 13-3D, built around the imagery of the band’s 13 album and one of the few 3D houses the event has ever run.
Osbourne died on 22 July 2025 at 76, seventeen days after Black Sabbath‘s farewell concert in Birmingham. Sharon and Jack Osbourne issued a joint statement about the attraction.
“Ozzy never stopped pushing boundaries, and he loved anything that gave fans a new way to experience his music and the worlds he created. Halloween Horror Nights has done an incredible job bringing that spirit to life. Walking through these haunted houses, you’ll recognize so many moments inspired by his music and imagination. It’s a wonderful tribute to Ozzy, and we hope fans have as much fun experiencing it as he would have had seeing it come together,” they said at the time.
Murdy framed it as a tribute rather than a licensing exercise: “Ozzy Osbourne didn’t just help define heavy metal — he created a cultural phenomenon that has influenced generations of music, art and horror. We previously had the privilege of collaborating with Ozzy, and this new haunted house is an opportunity to honor his extraordinary solo career. Inspired by all 13 of his albums, guests will journey through the dark, surreal worlds that fueled his music and cemented his legacy as the one and only Prince Of Darkness.”
Over on the East Coast, Mike Aiello, senior director of entertainment creative development at Universal Orlando Resort, stressed the care put into authenticity: “We are honored to collaborate with the Osbourne family to create a unique haunted house that celebrates the legacy of Ozzy Osbourne. It was important for us to create an authentic experience that brings Ozzy‘s creativity and personality to life in an eerily immersive new way. Fans will discover so many meaningful details, including a few Easter Eggs, as they navigate memorable dark and twisted moments inspired by his iconic musical career.”
Barry Drinkwater, chairman and founder of Global Merchandising Services, reflected on his long working relationship with the singer: “I’ve had the privilege of working with Ozzy for over a decade, and one thing that never changed was the incredible connection he had with his fans. That connection continues today, and our job is to keep creating authentic ways for fans to celebrate his legacy. This partnership with Halloween Horror Nights is a perfect example of that.
