Industrial metal pioneers Fear Factory dug deep into their extensive catalog last night, May 19, to kick off their highly anticipated Australian tour. Celebrating their 35th anniversary on the “Cybernetic Domination: 35 Years Of Fear Tour“, the gold-certified band marked their first headlining trek in the region in over a decade with a massive performance at the Metropolis in Fremantle.
While the career-spanning set predictably featured long-standing fan favorites like “Linchpin“, “Replica“, and “Edgecrusher“, the band surprised attendees by resurrecting several major deep cuts. Most notably, the group performed the Digimortal track “Invisible Wounds (Dark Bodies)” for the very first time since 2001.
The band also reached back into their 2010 studio album, Mechanize, delivering the first live performances of “Industrial Discipline” and “Final Exit” in 16 years.
The complete setlist from the Fremantle performance ran as follows:
- “What Will Become?”
- “Slave Labor”
- “Archetype”
- “Industrial Discipline” (First time performed since 2010)
- “Powershifter”
- “Regenerate”
- “Shock”
- “Edgecrusher”
- “Securitron (Police State 2000)”
- “Descent”
- “Disruptor”
- “Linchpin”
- “Invisible Wounds (Dark Bodies)” (First time performed since 2001)
- “Scumgrief (Deep Dub Trauma Mix)”
- “Demanufacture”
- “Self Bias Resistor”
- “Replica”
- “Final Exit” (First time performed since 2010)
The current anniversary tour serves as both a celebration of the past and a bridge to the band’s future. Fear Factory is tentatively expected to release their eleventh studio album later this year. The highly anticipated upcoming record will mark their first full-length release since officially bringing vocalist Milo Silvestro onboard in 2023 to helm the legendary industrial outfit.
Following the successful kickoff in Fremantle, the band will continue their run across Australia and New Zealand through the end of the month.
