Fan-shot video from Saturday’s guest-filled set at the Ramova Theatre has begun circulating, with a share of the night’s proceeds going to charities working in the band’s home city.
Fan-filmed footage from Harm’s Way‘s memorial set for Bo Lueders has started appearing online, three days after the band played it.
The show took place on Saturday, August 29 at the Ramova Theatre in Chicago, and was the band’s second performance since Lueders died in April. It was built around guest appearances, with musicians rotating through the guitar position across the night. Taylor Young and Colin Young of Twitching Tongues, Anthony DiDio of Vein.fm and Fleshwater, former Harm’s Way guitarist Jay Jancetic and former Nails guitarist Andrew Saba all took part, and the set closed with Colin Young fronting a cover of Crowbar‘s “Planets Collide“.
The concert was announced in July as a benefit. A portion of the proceeds is directed to three Chicago nonprofits: The Night Ministry, which provides housing support and health care to people facing homelessness and poverty; the Chicago Recovery Alliance, which runs harm reduction and overdose prevention services; and Hope For The Day, a mental health education and suicide prevention organisation founded in the city’s music community.
Neither the band nor the promoters have published a total raised.
The Ramova show followed a smaller warm-up the previous evening at Casa Cafe, where Harm’s Way played with bassist Casey Soyk moved across to guitar alongside Nick Gauthier, and Weekend Nachos‘ Drew Brown filling in on bass. Vocalist James Pligge and drummer Chris Mills stayed in their usual positions. Home Invasion and Asha played that bill alongside Weekend Nachos.
The memorial itself carried a fuller lineup, with Twitching Tongues, Weekend Nachos, The Killer and a set billed as Linda Claire joining Harm’s Way.
Lueders co-founded Harm’s Way in 2006 and died on April 2 at the age of 38. Alongside the band he co-hosted the “HardLore” podcast with Colin Young from 2022, and the pair launched a record label under the same name in 2024.
