Former Turnstile guitarist Brady Ebert has taken to social media to air grievances against his former band, making pointed allegations during a tense online exchange that offers further insight into the circumstances surrounding his exit.
The dispute was sparked after Turnstile shared an Instagram story featuring a sign that read “abolish ICE,” which was later reposted by Jesea Lee on Instagram. Ebert entered the discussion in the comments, where he criticized his former bandmates for what he described as performative activism and a lack of genuine ethical conviction. He wrote: “Lmao, no one in turnstile cares at all about ethics or social issues in general, they’re just pandering to their audience.”
He went on to accuse the group of misconduct connected to one of their early benefit concerts.
“At turnstiles first free show they did they claimed all proceeds go to healthcare for the homeless, we raised 10000 dollars but i watched Brendan steal 4000 dollars from that and claim he needed to ‘pay the merch bill’ which was false.”
Ebert’s comments quickly reopened debate about his highly disputed exit from Turnstile in 2022. At the time, the split was widely viewed as acrimonious, with reports emerging that drummer Daniel Fang had sought a restraining order against Ebert, though specific details were never fully disclosed.
In a subsequent comment on the same post, Ebert directly addressed that period, forcefully disputing what he characterized as false or misleading narratives surrounding the situation.
“Also my friends filed a restraining order and guess what, they had two laywers with them abd I showed up to court bt myself and the judge DENIED the restraining order,” he wrote. “Because there was no statute in the laws about what qualifies for a restraining order that they were able to meet the requirements of.”
He continued: “In other words they had no reason to file it and it was all over text messages which they showed the judge and the judge agreed with me without me even having to testify so next time before u spread bulls**t misinformation say that s**t to my face.”
Turnstile and their representatives have yet to issue any public response to Ebert’s allegations.
